Canadian Motorcycle Events (“the site”, “we”, “us”) is operated by the Canadian Motorcycle Tourism Association (CMTA), an Alberta-registered nonprofit (Reg. 5015365561). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use canadianmotorcycleevents.com, how we use it, and the choices you have. We are committed to handling your personal information responsibly and in line with Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).
Information we collect
Information you give us. When you submit an event (or contact us), we collect the details you provide, which may include your name, email address, phone number, organization or club name, and the event information you enter (title, date, location, description, images, and contact details for the event). You provide this voluntarily when you choose to list an event or get in touch.
Information collected automatically. Like most websites, we collect limited technical information through analytics, such as pages visited, approximate location (city/region), device and browser type, and how you arrived at the site. We use Google Analytics for this. This data is aggregated and used to understand how the site is used – it is not used to personally identify you.
Cookies. The site uses cookies and similar technologies, including those set by Google Analytics, to keep the site working and to measure traffic. You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings; disabling them may affect some site features.
How we use your information
- To review, approve, and publish the events you submit. All submissions are moderated and are not published until we approve them.
- To contact you about an event you submitted – for example, to confirm details or ask a question.
- To respond to messages you send us.
- To understand and improve how the site is used, through aggregated analytics.
- To maintain the security and proper functioning of the site.
When you submit an event for publication, please be aware that the event details you provide – which may include a contact name, email, or phone number for the event – are intended to be displayed publicly on the calendar once approved. Only include contact information you are comfortable making public.
How we share information
We do not sell or rent your personal information. We may share information only in these limited cases:
- Service providers who help us operate the site – for example our web host (IONOS) and analytics provider (Google) – who may process data on our behalf.
- Public display of approved event listings, as described above.
- Legal requirements, where we are required to disclose information by law.
Data retention
We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes described above, or as required by law. Published event listings remain on the calendar while they are current; expired events and related submission details may be removed or archived periodically.
Your rights
You may ask us to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you, or to remove an event listing you submitted. To make a request, contact us using the details below. We will respond within a reasonable time and may need to verify your identity first.
Security
We take reasonable steps to protect your information against loss, theft, and unauthorized access. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to safeguard the information you share with us.
Children
This site is intended for a general adult audience and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us and we will remove it.
Links to other sites
The site may link to other websites, including those of event organizers, sponsors, and our partner organizations. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites – please review their policies separately.
